But I totally understand you, I feel the same way about many of my ideas that start out as BL, but then I consider change it so more people might get interested in reading the potential manga (and of course so that it might get published). If you want to make a living as a mangaka I think you have to be a bit of a 'sell out', if only to get a foot in anyway.
Look at me, I'll probably always be a 'closet pervert' since I'll start a 'normal' DA-account eventually, which will have nothing to do with my BL-account. You're not the only *sell out*, my friend.
Yes. I'm really glad you understand! All in all, it's pretty okay, I've had my run with hradcore, and right now I feel comfortable with drawing mainstream... This way, I can share my work freely with my family, so they can understand and support my goals and not think I'm wasting my time, too. And I can show it to my grandchildren when I'm old! Of course, I can always make some secret secret chapter of some sort, that we can read in the closet together.
I want to do both BL and mainstream since I like both and since I have so many ideas for mangas, mayhaps too many, the only problem is lack of time and motivation.
The only one I dare show my BL-work is my friend, and she doesn't want me to only focus on it, which I won't, so I understand that you want to have something that you can show your future grandchildren without getting funny looks.
It's interesting that BL is so hard to get published since it's rather popular (especially 'underground' or how I'm supposed to phrase it) and there definitely is money in publishing it, but due to public morals it's hard to sell.
If you make a secret secret chapter, I look forward to it!

I read the webcomic. It's really nice. And the last page of the prologue kinda surprised me with those gnomes and fairies and other faces hidden on the bamboo trees. XD Really like it. I hope to see more of this. ^^
