Hello, Loves!

This is my contribution to *
Moemai's soon-to-be-released
Collective Artbook: Myths and Legends. Many popular fairytales were already taken when I joined the project, so I chose
Ye Xian, an older, Chinese version of Cinderella, with her tiny feet and embroidered shoes.
I had an idea about the composition from the very beginning, but the colors, well... I didn't expect to use so many hues in one picture. TTvTT This took three weeks on and off! There are parts of it that I really like and some that I don't really understand, because I just went with the flow. Anyway, I've broken an unexpected barrier there, I think.

As for the context, Ye Xian's 'fairy godmother' was a giant fish, and this image is supposed to symbolize some sort of spiritual bond... Sacrifice, gratitude, unspoken unconditional things. Yes, weird. Also, it is my little prayer for our waters and the lovely animals that call it home. Please love the ocean.
Belated happy Chinese New Year, everyone!

(Assuming that you needed, this is so beautiful
Ye Xian is the Chinese version of Cinderella, except her fairy godmother was a huge fish who had to die so that her wish could be granted. In the beginning, Ye Xian is like Cinderella, forced by her stepmother and stepsisters to work because they were envious of her beauty. Ye Xian's only friend was the giant river fish and it was later killed by her sadistic stepmother.
After mourning her friend, Ye Xian had a vision of an old man who told her to make a wish from the fish bones. She turned up as the most beautiful girl at the village gathering, attracting the attention of a wealthy and important man who later found the embroidered shoe she'd left behind while fleeing the party. He searched for her throughout the land and once he found her, took her as his wife.
